Accessories
An integral part of the Sirocco system is tube connection and tube sealing. A
wide range of products are available which enable tubes to be connected together, sealed from water
or gas ingress, or reduced from one tube size to another.
This range
of accessories is fully compatible with the Sirocco units and Sirocco tubes supplied by
Prysmian.
In many cases, alternative designs of each type of connectors are available so that
customers can adopt their preferred style. Talk to your Prysmian representative about the
alternatives.
• Tube connectors
Simple push fit connection of tubes. The standard tube connectors for 5mm to 5mm tube in
either external or internal environments where gas sealing is not required. Alternative connectors
available for 3mm to 3mm and 8mm to 8mm tubes.
• Gas Seal Connectors
Simple push fit connection of tubes. The standard tube connectors for 5mm to 5mm tube
(alternatives for 3mm/3mm and 8mm/8mm) entering customer premises giving a gas-tight seal for
populated or unpopulated tubes.
• Water Blocking Connectors
Used for water blocking populated or unpopulated tubes in underground external joints. The
standard push fit seals are 5mm with 3mm and 8mm also available.
• Reducer Connectors
It is recommended that tubing networks are built using a single tube size (5mm standard as
the size of larger 8mm tube units can be restrictive and 3mm tubes are only suitable for 2 & 4
fibre units). However, legacy networks may contain alternative tube sizes and so reducers allow
connection of different sized tubes although this can restrict air flow and reduce installation
distances.
• End caps For temporary sealing of tubes in external joints or tube
distribution units pending later installation of fibre units. The standard push fit seals are 5mm
with 3mm and 8mm also available.
• Tube sealing cap
Also an end cap, used in customer premises to provide a gas tight seal on incoming external
tubes, pending fibre unit population. The standard push fit seals are 5mm with 3mm and 8mm also
available.
