Introduction
Evolution in manufacturing technology delivers MagniLight™ Fibre with a wider usable
bandwidth. This is possible by removing the hydroxyl ions (water) from the standard single-mode
fibre that cause the attenuation peak around 1383 nm.
MagniLight™ Fibre is fully compliant to ITU-T recommendation G.652.D, which states that "The
sampled attenuation average at wavelengths of 1383 ± 3 nm shall be less than or equal to the
maximum value specified for the range 1310 nm to 1625 nm, after hydrogen ageing according to IEC
60793-2-50 regarding the B1.3 fibre category".
• More Bandwidth
MagniLight™ Fibre offers 65 % more usable wavelengths than standard single-mode fibre.
This means an extra bandwidth of 135 nm.
• Opening the new window
MagniLight™ Fibre opens a new operating wavelength window from 1340 to 1475 nm providing
lower chromatic dispersion compared to the third window. Optical transmission can now be performed
over the entire spectral range from the second to the third window thanks to superior fibre
characteristics.
• Compatibility
Fully compatible with standard single-mode fibre, MagniLight™ Fibre can be easily
integrated into today's network providing excellent transmission performance.
